The Do's and Dont's

It's important to know the do's and dont's in your hair care routine so follow these simple tips.

• Hair is rooted in the scalp which is why we should massage and exfoliate our scalp.

• Deep condition the hair at least twice a month.

• Have your ends clipped every 3 months.

• Protect your hair while you sleep. Check out our silk hair bonnets.

• Give your hair a break. Take a look at some of our protective styles.

• Follow the directions on the products.

• When the hair is covered the follicles can not breathe. Your follicles need oxygen in order for your hair to grow. Remember healthy hair comes from a healthy scalp!

• Washing your hair too much can dry it out depending on your hair texture.

• Don’t rush your hair care day. Be gentle to avoid breakage.

• Avoid over use of products. Remember less is more!

• Beware of using small tooth combs on wet hair. Finger detangling is a great way to start.

• Too much heat on the hair can cause breakage. Check your iron setting to make sure the temperature is just right for your hair texture.

  • Sulfates are bad for your hair because it strip our strands of its natural oils.
  •  Mineral oils (paraffin oil) are bad for our hair because it is a clear and odorless ingredient which cause product build-up on the scalp. This can cause scalp irritation and stunt hair growth.
  • Parabens can cause natural hair to become dry and brittle which leads to breakage. Parabens can enter the body through the scalp, interfere with the body’s hormones and are linked to chronic illnesses and certain cancers.
